In front of one of the largest crowds ever seen at Mt Panorama, and the largest field of V8s to run at the mountain (43 cars), Larry Perkins and Russell Ingall won the Primus 1000 Classic after their rivals fell one-by-one by the wayside. The Castrol Commodore duo maintained the kind of pace throughout the 1000km which so many of the other top runners were unable to handle amid the mayhem and carnage, only four of the top ten qualifiers managed to finish the race. Just 11 seconds behind Perkins was father-son duo Steve and Jim Richards in their Valvoline Garry Rogers Motorsport Commodore VS a team which ran on a shoe-string budget, but managed to outrun and outlast the big spenders. This release also includes a range of unseen vision. We have included the race action that unfolded while television viewers of the day were watching the commercial breaks.
